The Healthy Foods You Should Be Eating Every Day

New year, new you. Is this your mantra, too? Many people have been obsessively following their new year’s resolutions which usually last from 2 to 3 weeks, and after a while, slip back into their old habits. I honestly believe you don’t need a new year to make a new beginning.

Working out or eating healthily are two of the most common new year resolutions found on the web. What I’ve been trying for a while is eating healthier. Therefore I’ve prepared a list of foods you should include in your daily diet plan if you want to perhaps lose weight – or just eat healthier – without having to starve.

To make your life easier, start with these easy tips…

Which fruits are good for you and won’t add unnecessary sugar to your diet?

Head to a shop and buy any fruit that ends with -berry. You may try goji berries. They are also a great source of vitamins (A and C), iron, fibre, zinc, and antioxidants. So if you want to boost your immune system, you know what to pick. Because goji berries are also known as a superfood, they can be quite pricey, but don’t worry, a great substitute is any classic blueberry or strawberry; you’ll get the same amount of vitamins. Next time when you feel like snacking, grab a berry!

Which cooking oil should you use?

Rapeseed, linseed or coconut oil are absolutely the best choice for you! Coconut oil is one of the richest sources of saturated fat you can find. On the other hand, rapeseed oil has the lowest saturated fat content of any cooking oil – half that of olive oil – and is rich in Vitamin E and omega-3 and 6 fatty acids. Top tip: buy a vegetable oil! Confused? Check the ingredients section, and you’ll find out that it’s actually a rapeseed oil, and probably way cheaper than rapeseed oil.

Which veggies should you eat?

Remember, the light is always green. So, next time fill in your basket will green vegetables such as avocado, green beans, lettuce, broccoli, spinach and such.

Which carbohydrates should you eat?

Carbohydrates are usually marked as “do not eat” foods. But, that’s very misleading because carbohydrates are macronutrients, meaning they are one of the three main ways the body obtains energy or calories. We need them! You just need to be smart and know what to buy. Sweet potato, whole grain/brown rice, quinoa, bulgur, and porridge are definitely a healthy pick of carbons.

Hopefully these suggestions will make your life healthier! Happy eating!
