Kale has soared to popularity in recent years. Not only is a must in our morning smoothies but it’s also packed with beauty benefits that celebrities all over are hooked on. Whilst Jennifer Aniston used the super-food to aid her weight loss for 2013 flick We’re The Millers, Alexa Chung was the face of Nail Inc’s first greenie-enfused nail polish range, Nailkale.
Packed with key ingredients like antioxidants and iron, it’s really no surprise that health and beauty brands are soaking up the leafy green’s properties. That said, not all of us can afford the luxe buy. Sure, a £30 kale eye-cream may be the dream, but when your budget’s tight it’s just not do-able. Thankfully there are plenty of DIY hacks to help.
If you want to improve your under-eyes this winter and be rid of dark circles, kale does the tick. It improve the elasticity of skin and works great teamed up with spinach. With the green including vitamins C, E and omega acids, the antioxidants also help protect you from UV rays.
50ml coconut milk
2 tablespoons of spinach juice
2 tablespoons of kale juice
2 tablespoons of avocado oil
Start by pouring coconut milk into a large bowl and mix in spinach, kale juice and avocado oil. Whisk the ingredients together before storing it in a fridge. When you’re ready to use the cream, simply dip a cotton pad in the bowl and rub it across and under your eyes. For those looking for an extra kick, leave the product on over night. In the morning, wash you face with a warm flannel and carry on using your usual face cream and serum. Enjoy!
